If you haven’t already guessed from the title, I’m Becki – a British solo female traveller and adventure seeker – and my backpack is one of my most prized possessions. My first solo nomadic adventure began in 2007 in Vietnam… and I haven’t stopped.
Since then my quest for cultural immersion has led me to become a South East Asia travel expert, having lived and travelled extensively in the region for over 12 months; experience the delights of China, Mongolia, India, Kenya, Madagascar, West Coast America and Italy to name a few; and travel to remote and untouched countries such as North Korea and Myanmar.
But a traveller’s pursuit is never complete. Travelling differently, adventurously and with purpose – I want to show you how you can do it too.
There’s always a fork in the road and I’m not afraid to take it. Which is why I changed my life, decided to take a career steer from Public Relations to Editorial, save everything I possibly could and now find myself one year into a indefinite Round the World adventure – counting life experiences, not countries.
Mark Twain was a wise man too about making the most of life. He said: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And so I left the safe (and very much loved) harbour of London to set sail on an epic adventure – one full of endless discovery, mind broadening moments, wrong turns with positive endings and new people to call my friends. Oh, and my famous rants. There are plenty of those!
This is my journey and I hope you will follow me.
