About Me

If you haven’t already guessed from the title, I’m Becki – a British solo female traveller and adventure seeker – and my backpack is one of my most prized possessions. It has been since 2007 when I embarked on my first nomadic adventure to Vietnam.

Since then my quest for cultural immersion has led me to India, Hong Kong, Kenya, Madagasgar, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, West Coast America and Italy, to name a few. But a traveller’s pursuit is never complete.

There’s always a fork in the road and I’m not afraid to take it. Which is why I changed my life, decided to take a career break, saved everything I possibly could and am now embarking on a two year Round the World adventure to over 20 Countries.

Mark Twain was a wise man too about making the most of life. He said: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

And so I’m leaving the safe (and very much loved) harbour of London to set sail on an epic adventure – one full of endless discovery, mind broadening moments, wrong turns with positive endings and new people to call my friends. Oh, and my famous rants. There will be plenty of those! Afterall, travel is not just about the arrival at a new destination (l will leave that expert knowledge to Lonely Planet!) but the journey you take along the way.

I know I won’t be the same person that leaves the departure gate at Heathrow airport on July 21st 2012, but I can’t wait to meet the new person at the other end.

This is my journey and I hope you will follow me.
